Cascais has been a sailing town since the nineteenth century, when the royal family chose it as their summer retreat and the bay filled with racing yachts every August. The marina still sits at the edge of the old fishing quarter. On Saturday mornings the water is busy with day sailors, racing crews and cruising boats passing through on passage north or south.
The Atlantic off Cascais is calmer than further up the coast — the curve of land takes some of the swell out, and the afternoon offshore wind is reliable. It is a place where the sea feels manageable and the tradition of being on the water runs deep.
Thais drew the Cascais illustrations with that attention — the way a sail fills, the angle of a hull, the relationship between a boat and the water around it. The retro palette places the scenes in Portugal's long nautical tradition: warm ochres, deep blues, the clean geometry of a vessel under sail.
This collection includes sailing posters, a framed version ready to hang, and a top-down view of a motorboat crossing the bay — three different ways to bring the Cascais waterfront to your wall.
