Made from a place worth remembering
This Caparica surf illustration captures the barrel every surfer hopes for, a hollow wave folding over the sandbars just south of Lisbon.
The coast runs for kilometres along the Atlantic, with consistent swell, fishermen, families and a relaxed surf culture. The wave in the image belongs to an autumn morning, when the offshore wind holds the lip for a little longer.
Thais drew it from life near the beach, using colours inspired by sun-faded tiles and painted fishing boats along the shore.
