The beach south of the Caparica village is one of the most consistent kite spots in Europe. The northwest wind comes in reliably through spring and summer, the flat-water lagoons inside the sandbar give beginners somewhere to practise, and the international kiting community here is small, technical and welcoming.

Thais captured the aerial geometry of the sport — the kite as a shape against the sky, the rider suspended beneath it, the wave below as backdrop. Bold colours, minimal detail, maximum movement.
